As we prepare to celebrate Volunteer
Appreciation Week in April, we at the
American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania
(SEPA) Chapter are constantly reminded that
every week - indeed, every day - is an
appropriate time to recognize the importance
of our volunteers.
Volunteers represent 98% of our workforce,
and they make all the difference to our
disaster-affected families. Just last month,
72 SEPA responders answered the call around
the clock to provide emergency Red Cross
assistance to 227 families in the wake of 56
disasters.
On behalf of all the people who benefit from
our help every day, we thank you for your
efforts and the critical support that makes
our work possible.
All the best,
Tom Foley CEO

From Haiti to Philadelphia
The focus in Haiti continues to be on
emergency and transitional shelter, on
health, on sanitation and on the way forward.
Although there has been substantial progress
on every front of this response, the question
remains whether it will be either enough or
in time to ward off further tragedy.
